The 2025 Consolidated Election is over and both Wayne and Edwards County saw light voter turnout with a few contested races.    In Wayne County, Clerk Liz Ann Woodrow says there was 23 percent voter turnout in Wayne County with the total ballots cast at 2,528.  Woodrow says 274 Vote By Mail ballots of 582 mailed have not been returned.  Vote By Mail ballots had to be postmarked or put in the blue ballot box outside the security entrance of the courthouse by Tuesday in order for them to count.  Per State law statute, the “Official Election Results” cannot be certified until 14 days after the election which will be April 15th.  As for the results, in the City of Fairfield, Mayor Gary Moore ran unopposed and won another term as Mayor.  Also City Clerk, Tina Hutchcraft ran unopposed and won another term.  In the City Alderman Ward 1 race, Dewey Eckleberry ran unopposed and won re-election.  In Ward 2 incumbent, Clifford Reever defeated Angelique Maguire.  Ward 3 saw Eugene “Tubby” McGill win re-election along with Terry Stahl in Ward 4, both running unopposed.  Some results are posted below.  To see the complete results from the consolidated election voting, you can visit the website, platinumelectionresults.com and click on the respective county to view the results.

In the Jasper Grade School Board of Education race, five candidates were in the running for four seats on the board.  Joshua Zurliene, Wesley Allen Legg, Jarad Blanton and Shawn Otey were all elected to the board.

In the Fairfield Grade School District #112 race, winning election to the board include; Karen Baker, Jamie F. Jones, Trinity Lee Fry and Rachel Ewing.  At New Hope, Tom Barton was elected running unopposed to a 2-year unexpired term, along with Jeremy Vaughan, Jeremy Gray, Jonathan Hase and Billy Belangee all elected to the New Hope Board.

Village of Wayne City race, for Village President saw incumbent Rocky Hedden winning re-election over challenger, Steve Buxton Jr. and for Village Trustee, three to be elected and winning those spots were; Gary Cline, Jarod Peyton and Timothy Piper.

Over in Edwards County, Clerk, Mary Beth Smith says voter turnout was at 15 percent.  In the City of Albion race, all candidates running unopposed were re-elected.  Regarding the vote concerning the tax increase in the Village of West Salem to help pay for a new fire truck, the referendum PASSED, 73 yes votes to 25 no votes.  However, there is 140 Vote by Mail ballots still outstanding county wide.  There is a 14-day wait period for the ballots to arrive to the Edwards County Courthouse so these results are deemed unofficial at this time.
