Here’s the current river stages according to the US Geological Survey. Little Wabash east of Fairfield stands at 29.77 feet (flood stage is at 17 ft.) The Skillet Fork at Wayne City has a reading of 19.51 feet, (flood stage is 15 ft). The Little Wabash below Clay City is at 24.43 feet. (flood stage is at 18 ft.) The Little Wabash at Main St. in Carmi is at 34.42 feet, (flood stage is at 27 ft.). The Wabash River at Mt. Carmel is at 25.54 feet, (flood stage is at 19 ft.). The Bonpas Creek at Browns is at 23.45 feet. Ohio River at Old Shawneetown IL-KY State line is 42.27 feet, (flood stage is at 33 ft.).
In the Carmi area, At 35.5 feet, Businesses just downstream of IL Route 14 and Route 1 in Carmi will flood. The Little Wabash River is expected to rise to a crest of 36.1 feet Friday evening.
