Steven Lee Daniel, 78, of Grayville, passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at Wabash General Hospital in Mt. Carmel. He was born on Monday, December 9, 1946, in Louisville, KY a son of Louis Walker and Dorothy Lee (Nichols) Daniel. On March 29, 2002, Steve married Sandra Elaine Broster in Henderson, KY and together they have shared over 23 years of marriage.
Steve was a member of the following Veterans Service Organizations; Carmi VFW Post 3851, Carmi American Legion Post 224, Grayville Memorial VFW Post 2606, Grayville James M. Helm American Legion Post 696 Albion-Browns American Legion Post 590 and Albion VFW Post 8222. He was also a member of the Grayville Moose Lodge 1960. He was an avid Chicago Cubs Fan. Steve enjoyed being outdoors and mowing with his John Deere Lawn Tractor. He also enjoyed watching the History Chanel and Western Movies.
Steve was retired having worked for more than 20 years at Champion Laboratories in West Salem and Albion. He also worked as a vehicle salesman for Rick’s Service Station. Steve was a true patriot; he served his country honorably in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War as a Hospital Corpsman. The one thing that rivaled his love of country was the love he had for his family who he enjoyed spending his time with.
In addition to his wife, Sandy Daniel of Grayville, Steve is survived by his children, Lee (April) Daniel of Neoga, IL; Heather (Kevin) Wehrheim of Cape Coral, FL and Samantha (Dean) Smith of Olney, IL. 7 Grandchildren; sister, Pat (Mike) Morris of DeFuniak Springs, FL; sisters-in-law, Patti (Mike) Carr of Grayville and Bev (David) Iles of Browns; many nieces and nephews and his furbaby Gracie Mae.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Morris Julian Daniel.
A service celebrating the life of Steven Lee Daniel, will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, in the chapel at Roberts and Cook Funeral Service 221 North First Street, Grayville, IL, with Nick Wiseman officiating. Family and friends may visit from 1:00p.m. until the time of service. Full military honors will be accorded by members of the United States Navy Funeral Honors Team and Local VFW and American Legion Members.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Steve’s memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and will be accepted by Roberts and Cook Funeral Service who has been entrusted with the arrangements.
