FOUR DEAD IN SMALL PLANE CRASH NEAR MATTOON, ILLINOIS

A tragic plane crash near Mattoon, Illinois, claimed the lives of four people on Saturday,  according to the Illinois State Police.

The accident occurred around 10:15 a.m. on County Road 1400N in Trilla, a community in Coles County,  20 miles north of Effingham.   State Police confirmed that the aircraft involved was a Cessna C180G, a small single-engine plane.

All four occupants of the aircraft were from Menomonie, Wisconsin, and were pronounced dead at the scene.  The Coles County coroner confirmed the following identifications:

Ross R. Nelson, 46-year-old male from Menomonie, WI

Raimi A. Rundle, 45-year-old female from Menomonie, WI

Courtney L. Morrow, 36-year-old female from Menomonie, WI

Michael H. Morrow, 48-year-old male from Menomonie, WI

 

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is also involved in the investigation, working to determine the cause of the fatal crash.
