NORTH WAYNE SCHOOL UNIT DISTRICT BOARD OF EDUCATION APPROVES CONSENT AGENDA AND TAKES KEY ACTIONS

During their recent meeting, the North Wayne Unit School District Board of Education unanimously approved several items on the consent agenda. These included the minutes from the March 19th  regular meeting, requests for personal leave and dock days, the Consolidated District Plan, and various field trips for elementary, Cisne Middle School and Cisne High School students.

 

The board also approved an intergovernmental agreement for the Clay, Jasper, Richland, North Wayne Regional Delivery System, and authorized the use of Cisne High School facilities for the Cisne Fireworks event scheduled for July 5th.  Additionally, they maintained the confidentiality of executive session minutes from August through December 2023, and renewed the two-year co-op agreement between Cisne High School and Wayne City High School for Girls Basketball.

 

Resignations from Kera Vinson and Kelsey Fetherling as Cisne High School Volleyball Coaches were accepted, along with a $756 donation from Fairfield National Bank to the CHS activity fund. The board also approved the FFA Officer Retreat scheduled for May 27-28th.

 

The board authorized payment of bills, installed newly elected members Josh Atwood, Lindsey Edmison, and Alan Gill, and recognized outgoing members Lee Milligan, Steve Harrison, and Rob Traiteur for their dedicated service.

 

Board officers were appointed, with Matthew Moore serving as President, Lance Endsley as Vice-President, Lee Ann Samford as Secretary, and Lindsey Edmison as the WOVSED representative. The board set its regular meeting schedule for 6 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month at Cisne Middle School.

 

Financial institutions designated as district depositories include Trustbank, Citizens National Bank Mt. Erie, Fairfield National Bank, Peoples National Bank, Fairfield Banking Co., and First Financial Bank. Shannon Hosick was appointed as district treasurer.

 

Bids for the upcoming fiscal year were approved, including the dairy bid from Prairie Farms, LP Gas & Diesel bids from Wabash Valley FS, and a rock bid from Carter’s.

 

Following executive session, the board took several actions: increasing all non-certified and administrative salaries by 5.41% for FY26, and hiring Samantha Klingler as the CHS Head Volleyball Coach.
