State Representative Dave Severin recently welcomed two local leaders to the Illinois State Capitol as part of the Illinois House Republicans’ annual Women to Watch Leadership Conference. Representing Southern Illinois, Michaela Greathouse of Greathouse Grazing Acres and Wayne County Treasurer Yvette Anderson participated in the event, which brings together women from across the state for networking, panel discussions, and leadership development.

“I am proud to know both Michaela and Yvette, as they are not only my constituents, they are outstanding leaders in their respective fields, and they deserve the recognition for their leadership and contributions,” said Rep. Severin. “This is the fourth year that I have hosted guests for this program, and I believe the conference was better because of the contributions made by Michaela and Yvette.”

Yvette Anderson, who serves as Wayne County Treasurer, expressed appreciation for the opportunity to attend the event.
“I am grateful to Rep. Severin for the opportunity to network with other leaders from the state of Illinois and to hear from some of our highest-ranking elected officials,” Anderson said. “This is a wonderful conference put on by the House Republicans in an effort to highlight the great contributions that women in leadership positions are making in every corner of the state.”

Michaela Greathouse, along with her husband Charlton, owns and operates Greathouse Grazing Acres, a 120-acre grain, vegetable, and livestock farm located in Albion. Greathouse, who is active in Farm Bureau initiatives, described the conference as both informative and valuable. She was recently named the State Winner of the 2024 Young Leader State Discussion at the Illinois Farm Bureau’s Annual Conference in Chicago.

“I was proud to join with Yvette and Rep. Severin in Springfield for this year’s leadership conference at the State Capitol,” Greathouse said. “Learning from other leaders is a great way to improve your own leadership strategies. I thank Rep. Severin for the opportunity to attend this year!”

The Women to Watch Leadership Conference continues to serve as a platform to celebrate and empower women in leadership roles throughout Illinois.
