Illinois State Police Troop 9 responded to a fatal crash involving a truck and pedestrian late Friday night in Edwards County. It happened around 10:15 p.m. along Illinois Route 130 northbound at East 1725 North Road.
A preliminary investigation indicates a pickup truck was traveling northbound on IL130 when it struck a pedestrian in the roadway just south of the intersection. Edwards County Coroner, Mark Curtis has identified the pedestrian as 22-year-old Jaxin W. Lee of Grayville, formerly of Albion who suffered fatal injuries.
The driver of the pickup truck is from West Salem, but authorities have not yet released the name.
The intersection was shut down for several hours while authorities investigated. All lanes were reopened around 3:15 a.m. this (Saturday) morning.
Illinois State Police, Troop 9 continues to investigate the accident.
