Road construction on a section of I-57 and I-64 and Illinois Route 15 in Jefferson County is set to start next week with lane reductions, weather permitting.
The Illinois Department of Transportation says construction will begin at the I-57 I-64 interchange with Route 15 from Potomac Boulevard/45th Street to 44th Street. The work is part of nearly $39 million in projects to reconstruct the interchange into a diverging diamond design. The project also includes replacing the Illinois Route 15 bridge over i-57 and upgrades to associated ramps.
Motorists can expect some delays, as the project will be completed in multiple stages with changing traffic patterns. The work is expected to be completed over two construction seasons.
