Area rivers continue a slow fall.  Here’s the latest stages this morning: the Little Wabash River east of Fairfield is at 24.01 feet, about seven feet above flood stage.  At Clay City the river is below the 18-foot flood stage, at 14.77 feet.  At Carmi the stage is 28.28 feet.  Flood stage is 27 feet.  The Skillet Fork at Wayne City is at 8.83 feet, below its 15-foot flood stage.  The Wabash River at Mt. Carmel is at 12.31 feet. Flood stage is 19 feet.  Bonpas Creek at Browns is at 7.05 feet.

The current forecast is dry until around Tuesday of next week, when rain chances return to the area.  A cooldown is expected in the six to ten day outlook, according to the Climate Prediction Center, for  the first few days of May, with near to slightly below normal precipitation.
