Walmart is rolling out a major upgrade across several stores, including the Fairfield location which has undergone a major change to the interior of the store.
The retail giant announced that it plans to remodel 11 stores across the state as part of a larger $1 billion nationwide initiative to modernize and enhance shopping experiences.
So, what can customers expect? Walmart says the updates will feature bold new signage and eye-catching displays designed to better showcase products. The stores will also see expanded departments with fresh items, giving shoppers more of what they’re looking for.
The stores will benefit from wider aisles throughout, including the pharmacy area, making it easier to browse and shop. The remodel will also include a private screening room and dedicated privacy checkout areas to improve convenience and comfort for customers.
Online shopping will also get a boost, with an expanded Pickup & Delivery section to better serve the increasing number of online orders.
This year alone, Walmart plans to revamp a total of 650 stores nationwide, including locations in Flora, Olney, Harrisburg, Rantoul, Jacksonville, Robinson, Palatine, Pekin, Beardstown, and Danville.
Glenda Fleming Willis, Walmart’s Senior Vice President for the North Business Unit, says
“Our stores often serve as the heartbeat of the communities we operate in. These remodels reflect our commitment to strengthening that role. By investing in our stores and team members, we’re not only improving the shopping experience but also reaffirming our dedication to being a vital part of each community’s future.”
