Larry D. Williams, 85, of Fairfield, died Sunday, December 3, 2023, at Fairfield Memorial Hospital Skilled Care Unit. He moved to Fairfield from Johnston City in 1961 when he became a driver education instructor at Fairfield Community High School. In 1966, he and his family moved to Dixon, Illinois when he became a safety specialist for Country Companies. The family returned to Fairfield in 1968.
Larry was a graduate of Johnston City High School, and Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. He was married to Sandra Simpson for 56 years. She preceded him in death. Services will be held Wednesday December 6th at Cornerstone Community Church (formerly Fairfield First United Methodist) where he had been a member since 1961. Visitation will start at 11:00 AM with funeral services at 1:00 PM. Burial will be at Maple Hill Cemetery. Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his son, L. Bryan (Barbara) Williams, daughter, Tammy (Glen) Lee, Grandchildren Derek (Jenny) Lee, Lauren Williams, Brandon (Marty Theriot) Lee, and great grandchildren Peyton and Parker Lee. For those who wish, memorials may be made for Fairfield Memorial Skill Care Unit.
