Helen Jane McGehee, 92, of Norris City, departed this life on Friday, February 2, 2024 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Evansville, IN surrounded by family. Helen was born on October 12,1931 to the late Harriet and Leland Wheeler of Norris City.
Helen loved her family fiercely and was fiercely loved by them as well. She enjoyed cleaning (yes, cleaning), cooking, her weekly shopping trips to Wal-Mart, and spending time with family. She had a real sweet tooth and loved waking up to her morning coffee and cookies. Helen was particularly fond of helping others in need and was regarded as the sweetest lady by all her nurses over the past few years. Helen leaves behind her sons, Harold “Bim” Wheeler of Norris City and Robert McGehee of Enfield; grandchildren, Melissa Shepard (George), Jennifer Webster (Ben), and Taylor Gooch (Danny); great-grandchildren, Peyton, Madelyn, Adyson, Karsen, Adelyn, and Laynie; brother, Gary Wheeler; as well as other cherished relatives, friends, and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harriet and Leland; husband, Wilburn McGehee; brothers, Bertis Wheeler, Marvin Wheeler, Eugene Jordan; sisters, Gail Rogers, Clotine Flannigan, and Carolyn McGhee. She was also preceded in death by infant siblings Faye Wheeler and Charles Wheeler. Friends may offer their condolences from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Thursday February 8, 2024 at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City.
