Robert Dee Puntney, 77, of Crossville, Illinois, died Monday, March 4, 2024, at Wabash General Hospital in Mt. Carmel, Illinois.  He was born June 15, 1946, in Eldorado, Illinois, the son of Woodrow “Woody” and Wanda (Blazier) Puntney.  He was married to Sarah (Dill) Puntney in 1999, and she survives.

Bob was retired as a general contractor and was responsible for the design and construction of may houses in the area.

Alannah and Colin Puntney have this to say about their grandpa:

Our grandpa, Bob, lit up any room he walked into. He was the funniest, sweetest, most loving man we have ever met. I truly could not believe how much he loved us and everyone in his life – whether it was family, friends, neighbors, or most of all: Sarah, his “Mae Apple.” He would give everyone the world if he could, and he tried. He was the best storyteller; it would not be a day with grandpa unless we heard a crazy story. Sometimes his stories were so crazy that the fish he caught grew an inch after each person he told!

He loved to camp, fish, golf, and work on projects in his workshop, especially with Colin when we were in town. Of course, no one can forget how much he loved Harley Davidson! From his bikes, to his custom truck, to the old bathroom decor, grandpa was decked out in Harley.

The best times were when all three Puntney brothers were together. Their relationship is like no other – the stories, jokes, and fun they had together was admirable in every way. When they were together, everyone around knew they were in for a treat.

We will all miss his sweet booming voice, how silly he was, his kindness, hard work, and determination, and how deeply he loved.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah Puntney of Crossville; son Robert Scott (Mimosa) Puntney of Round Rock, Texas; daughter Becki Bea (Anthony) Cordova of Farmington, New Mexico; brothers Woodie (Renee) Puntney of Crossville, Jack (Stacey) Puntney of Port Orange, Florida; sister Woodie Jeanne (Jim) Deal of Darby, Kansas; grandchildren Kenzie Cordova, Alannah Skye, Colin James, Dylan Cordova; great-grandchild Wynter Skye; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and father-in-law and mother-in-law Elmer and Betty Dill.

Visitation and funeral are Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Crossville Missionary Baptist Church in Crossville, Illinois. Visitation is at 10 and funeral is at 12 noon.  Burial will follow in Centerville Cemetery north of Carmi, Illinois.

Cook Funeral Chapel in Crosville, Illinois, is in charge of arrangements.
