Alan Ray Barnett, 51, of Mcleansboro passed away at 8:47PM on Friday March 15, 2024, at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville Indiana. He worked for Continental Tire in Mt Vernon but was a farmer at heart. Alan was born in Mt Vernon on May 22, 1972, to Charles “Chuck” and Treva Marie (Meyers) Barnett.
“Huntin’, Fishin’ and Lovin’ everyday thank God, he made him this way” was Alan’s moto. Alan was a lover of the outdoors- all things outdoors, but especially fishing and goose hunting. Above all he loved his family fiercely and would do whatever he could to help anyone in need. It comes as no surprise that Alan helped people even after his passing by being an organ donor.
Alan is survived by his father- Charles “Chuck” Barnett of Wayne City; wife- Amie Barnett of Mcleansboro; son- Austen Ray (Stormie Hartsey) Barnett of Olney; daughters- Ashten (Austin) Dillman of Benton, Charlee Barnett, and Raylea Barnett both of Mcleansboro; step-sons- Jakob Pottorff of Dix, and Anthony Garrison of Mt Vernon; grandson- Griffin Dillman of Benton; sisters- Selena (Chad) Harrell of Crossville, and Chandra (Robbie) Drew of Bluford; niece- Sara Harrell; his first best friend/cousin Julia (Meyers) Brumfield; Aunt Rita (John) Bodem of Centralia; Uncle Brett Barnett of San Jose, CA also survives, as well as many cousins.
Alan was preceded in death by his mother- Treva Barnett, maternal grandparents- Valoris and Juanita Meyers, paternal grandparents- Berlin and Juanita Barnett, and uncles Eddie and Gary Lynn Meyers.
Alan’s body will be cremated with a Celebration of Life Service to be held at Keenes Missionary Baptist Church Monday, March 25, 2024, from 5-7pm.
Memorials may be made to Charlee and Raylea Barnett and accepted at Bean Capital Banking Center in Wayne City.
