Robert “Bob” Lee Garner

Robert “Bob” Lee Garner, age 83, of Wayne City, IL passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at his home with his family by his side. Bob was born on January 7, 1941 in Wayne City, IL to Fay and Leona (Mayberry) Garner. Bob was united in marriage to Gloria (Lopez) Garner on March 22, 1963 and they shared 61 wedding anniversaries together.

Bob worked for Coatings Application and Waterproofing Co. from 1967 – 2006. He retired at 65 years of age. Bob loved fishing, gardening, and spending time with his wife and family. Those of you that knew him will remember his love for giving out nicknames and the crazy phrases and sayings he would come up with.

Bob (Paw Paw) is survived by his wife Gloria of Wayne City; three children – Tony Garner of Mt. Vernon, IL, Kerry (Susan) Garner of Edwardsville, IL, and Carla (Clayton) Withrow of Wayne City, IL; Bonus daughter; Robin (Gary) Nichols of Carmi, IL; one sister – Sybbie (Randy) Ile of Minerva, OH; seven grandchildren: Sawyer (Amber) Nichols, Casey Withrow (Ryan Kirkpatrick), Haley (Brent) Edwards, Ethan Garner, Connor (Rachel) Withrow, Mason Garner (Erica Marlow), and Malorie (Nick) Hendrix; great grandchildren: Paityn Rightnowar, Kameron Sneed, Charlotte Kirkpatrick, Truett &

Barrett Edwards, Walker Hendrix, and Cade Withrow, with two more greats on the way; along with several nieces & nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, and four siblings: Cecil Garner, Jeanine Jordan, Carlene Brown, and Benny Garner. Also, nephews Billy Ray Garner, Tony Johnston, and Tim Garner.

Funeral services for Robert “Bob” Lee Garner will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at Young Funeral Home in Wayne City, with Bro. Rob Greenwalt officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday May 21, 2024 at Young Funeral Home. Interment will follow the funeral service at Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City.
