Jerre Hout, 82, of Olney, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at St. Vincents Hospital, Evansville, IN. Jerre was born January 31, 1942, in Dundas, Illinois to Palmer Everett and Leona Olive (White) Hout. He married Donna Kay Barnhart on June 4, 1961, preceding him in death on July 11, 1996. He later married Jane Louise Townsend on September 14, 2002, and she survives.
Jerre enjoyed spending time with family and loved his Lord Jesus Christ very much and was a member of the First Christian Church of Noble. He was a lifetime worker in the oil field, starting at age 17 and continued until he retired at age 78. He took pleasure in fishing, mowing, grilling, and attending dirt-track races with his brothers, sons, and grandchildren. He especially enjoyed cookouts with family and friends. Jerre attended the Tin Cup faithfully and generally purchased a meal or two for his friends. He will be remembered as a generous and loving friend to all.
Jerre is survived by his wife, Jane Hout of Olney; son, Dennis Hout and Wife Tammi of Evansville, IN; daughter, Darla Gray and husband Roger of Passport, IL; son, Scott Hout and wife Tiffanie of Grayville, IL; grandchildren, Hunter (Jami) Hout, Tanner Hout, Colt Hout, Jennifer (Kyle) Adams, Ashley (Rudy) Loyd, Malerie (Fiancé Jeff Tennyson) Gray, Kaylea (Fiancé Alex Smith) Hout, and Pixi Hout; great grandchildren, Everett, Brayden, Hayes, Kinsley, Ella, and Oliver; step-children, Stacey Townsend-Sechrest, Stephanie (Josh) Craven, and Christopher (Erin) Townsend; step-grandchildren, Madison (Korbin) Boehme, Meghan (Gannon) Fiorini, Mitchell Sechrest, Marley Sechrest, Benjamin (Alex) Craven, and Julia, Nathanael, Ava Jane, Anna, and Naomi Craven, and Hayden and Hannah Townsend; step-great grandchildren, Paisley and Selah, brothers, Dan (Dana) Hout and Gary (Vicki) Hout; and several nieces and nephews. . He was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife of 35 years, Kay Hout, two infant grandchildren, Whitley and William Hout; and sister, Kay Paddock. A funeral service will be held for Jerre at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at the First Christian Church of Noble, with a visitation beginning two hours prior to the funeral at the church.
Interment will follow the service at West Village Cemetery, rural Bone Gap, Illinois.
