Willard L. Lang, 87, of Fairfield, passed away at 3:40am on Friday, June 21, 2024, at Fairfield Memorial Hospital skilled care unit.
Willard was born on April 23, 1937, in Mill Shoals, IL, to Carl and Edna (Durst) Lang Hetrick. On July 5, 1958, he married the love of his life, Rickey (Day) Lang who preceded him in death in 2021.
Willard had been a farmer from the time he was a young man. He also worked a few other places like the Railway Express out of Rantoul and Champaign, IL, the Amex Coil Co in Gillett, WY, was a police officer in Muscatine, IA and a Deputy in Fairfield and Wayne County, along with working for Teamster in Champaign, IL.
Survivors include his son Scott Lang of Wellington, FL, two daughters Tammy Hall of Wayne City, IL and Stacey (Greg) Schafer of Petersburg, IL, nine grandchildren Leslie Conover, Kelly Lane, Ashley Lang, Allysa Roberts, Elizabeth Lang, Victoria Lang, Noah Schafer, Ben Schafer, and Hannah Schafer, seven great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren, two brothers Wilford (Janet) Lang and Wendell “Hondo” Lang both of Fairfield, along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Rickey.
Funeral services for Willard Lang will be at 1pm on Wednesday, June 26th at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairfield with burial to follow in Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11am until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorial donations can be made to the Wayne County Senior Center and will be accepted at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
