Fairfield Community High School’s winningest sports coach, Chet Snyder, has announced his resignation, effective at the end of the current season. After 21 successful years at the helm of the Lady Mules volleyball program, Snyder informed school administration last week of his decision to step down.

Snyder took over the Lady Mules in 2004 and has consistently led the team to success, never finishing with a losing record. He boasts an impressive total of 537 wins and counting. In his inaugural season, the team finished with a 19-14 record, which remains the fewest wins in any season during his tenure. Since then, the Lady Mules have achieved 20 or more wins each year, with the exception of the 2016 season, when they recorded a 19-16 finish. Entering this season, Snyder held a career record of 520-196.

Under Snyder’s leadership, the Lady Mules have secured six Regional titles and two Sectional championships, with the latter achieved in consecutive seasons in 2018 and 2019. Additionally, the team has dominated the Black Diamond Conference East division, winning the title 13 times in the last 20 years. Snyder’s impact on the program and the community will be remembered for years to come.
