Wayne City Fire Department personnel were called to what was at first reported a fully involved structure fire with possible entrapment Sunday night just after 7:30 at a residence on West Section Line Road.  Wayne City Fire Chief, Scott Clark says when firemen arrived, the fire was on the exterior of the structure which made its way to the attic.  Clark says a passerby noticed flames and stopped and alerted the homeowner, who works nights and she, another family member and family dogs were able to escape the ranch style house unharmed. Clark indicated the fire was contained to the attic and the home sustained heat and fire damage  Mutual aid was sent from Fairfield Rural and McLeansboro Fire Departments while the Jefferson Fire District covered the Wayne City Fire Station.  Firemen were on the scene til about 10:45.  Chief Scott Clark says the cause of the fire is still being investigated.
