The Grayville City Council met on Monday night, during which Treasurer Sharon Walden presented her report and discussed the annual report, which will be available for review for 30 days before a public hearing and official filing. For the fiscal year ending in April, the operating revenues totaled $3,062,539.24, while expenditures reached $4.3 million, minus $423,000 in depreciation, resulting in net expenditures of over $3.915 million.
Andy Brock from Friends of Grayville reported on a successful Car Show held on October 5th, which featured 116 registered vehicles, marking one of the best-attended events in its 17-year history.
The council passed a formal resolution to allocate $34,500 from Motor Fuel Tax Funds for the repaving of Illinois Route 1 at the North Street intersection, a topic that was initially discussed and approved in September.
Additionally, the council is proceeding with the annexation of 205 Hagedorn Road into the city. This move is expected to benefit Darrin Harrington of Darrin’s Collision Repair, who will gain access to the newly established Business District and in-city utility rates.
For Halloween, Grayville has set Trick or Treat hours from 5 PM to 8 PM on Thursday, October 31st, and has approved the closure of certain roads for the Boo Bash, which will take place on Sunday, October 27th, hosted by the Grayville Community Arts Association downtown.
Botsch and Associates, CPA’s, will continue to provide auditing services for Grayville after the council accepted their three-year proposal, which is capped at $16,500 per year.
Finally, the council approved a Revolving Loan Grant to assist Wyatt Hatcher with half the costs associated with the demolition of 124 and 126 West Mill Street, with the total expense estimated at $3,500, of which Grayville will contribute $1,750.
