Mt. Vernon, IL police have made two arrests in connection with a shooting last Saturday evening that resulted in three people being injured. The shooting occurred in the 1100 block of Lamar Street.
Police reported 37 year old Timothy Boyd of Mt. Vernon was arrested on charges of attempted murder, two counts of aggravated battery with a firearm, being an armed habitual offender and an Illinois Department of Corrections Parole Violation. A search of Boyd last Thursday ended when he was located at a hotel in Carlyle by agents with the U.S. Marshals Task Force accompanied by detectives with the Mt. Vernon Police Department.
Another person in the hotel, identified as 38 year old Myleika Whitelow of Centralia, IL was charged with aiding and concealing a fugitive.
Mt. Vernon police said all three people that were injured in last Saturday’s shooting were taken to local hospitals and later transferred to St. Louis for additional treatment. They reportedly had non-life-threatening injuries.
