Instagram is introducing new features designed to protect teens from sextortion scams, where scammers threaten to share intimate photos unless they receive payment. Parent company Meta plans to implement measures that will prevent users from taking screenshots or recording temporary images and photos sent through direct messaging.

Additionally, Meta is collaborating with Crisis Text Line to provide support for individuals who fall victim to these scams or have other safety concerns. Recently, the company reported that it removed more than 1,600 Facebook accounts linked to a group known for engaging in such scams.
