Thomas Otto Bayles, age 93, of Rinard, Illinois, passed away on Monday, November 18, 2024, at Clay County Hospital.
He was born July 21, 1931, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of George A. and Flora M. (Grothe) Bayles. He was united in marriage to Nancy Pearl Shreve on March 8, 1959, and together they have shared 65 wedding anniversaries.
Tom served in the U.S. Army during World War II, stationed at Orly Field in Paris, France. He worked in the transportation division as a transport driver for Generals coming to and from meetings. He was a long-time family farmer and enjoyed his time working the land. Tom and Nancy attended New Zion General Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife: Nancy Bayles of Rinard; a son: Randy Bayles of Rinard; and a host of special friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A graveside ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Bunker Cemetery, Rinard, with Danny Farris officiating. Those who wish to attend are asked to arrive directly at the cemetery. A visitation will be held from 9-10 a.m. on Saturday at the cemetery. Arrangements are by Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora.
