Hunters in Illinois harvested a preliminary total of 54,661 deer during the first weekend of the Illinois firearm deer season between November 22nd thru 24th. Comparatively, hunters took 53,348 and 52,354 deer during the first firearm weekends in 2023 and 2022, respectively. In Wayne County, hunters took 1,113 deer compared to last year when hunters harvested 938 deer. In Edwards County, hunters harvested 309 deer, up from last year’s total when hunters took 283 deer.
Illinois’ seven-day firearm deer season will conclude December 5th thru the 8th.

Muzzleloader-only deer season December 13th thru the 15th.
Late-winter antlerless-only and chronic wasting disease deer seasons in select counties only, December 26th thru the 29th and January 17th thru the 19th.
Archery deer season continues through January 19th. Please note that archery deer hunting is closed December 5th thru the 8th in counties open for firearm deer season.
