He was a man of faith and the senior pastor at the Mill Shoals Gospel Assembly Church in Mill Shoals, Illinois. He was faithful in delivering God’s message in a sermon or in the many songs he knew. He was still delivering the message in song up until his death.

But his priority in life was God, sharing his faith and spending time with family and friends.

John is survived by his wife of 44 years, Ramona J (McKinney) Reed, his son Gerald ‘Jerry’(Verla) Reed, Brownstown, Illinois, stepdaughter Linda Davis (David) Pike, Cincinnati, Ohio, son in law Jim Pranger, Fayetteville, North Carolina. Great grandchildren- Tristan, Sadie and Addilynn Gover, Elia Eve Reed, and Eleanor Ratliffe. Brothers- Curt (Betty) Reed, Decatur, Illinois and Gene Reed, Bloomfield, Indiana and brother-in-law Larry (Elaine) Withrow, Fairfield, Illinois. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
