A preliminary hearing for former Wabash County Sheriff’s Deputy Chase Cheadle has been postponed for the second straight month. Reports say the latest postponement came from continued health complications of special prosecutor Brian Towne.
In court this past Thursday, defense attorney Jonathan Turpin stated that Towne is still suffering from the health issues that caused the delay in the preliminary hearing last month. On Friday, Cheadle waived his right to a prompt preliminary hearing and is now due back in court on January 23rd.
Cheadle faces four charges of official misconduct, one count of theft, one count of cruelty to animals, and two counts of Animal Owner Duties. He resigned from the sheriff’s department on August 8th.
