Bruce Alan Sharp, age 35, of Clay City, Illinois, passed away Saturday evening, December 14, 2024, at Clay County Hospital.
He was born December 25, 1988, in Olney, the son of Richard Wayne and Vicky Lynn (Basinger) Sharp.
Bruce was a graduate of Clay City High School class of 2007, where he was nominated most talkative. After high school he joined the U.S. Navy and went on to further his education, earning a bachelor’s degree from Millikin University. Bruce was currently employed as a truck driver for Warrior Trucking in Clay City. He was the greatest dad to his children and shared with them his love of racing and Nascar by taking them to watch races any time he had the chance. He enjoyed hunting for deer and rabbits, fishing—especially catfishing, and playing softball for the civics league in Clay City.
He is survived by his wife: Jessica Sharp of Clay City; 4 children: Waylyn Alan Sharp, Raymond Bruce Sharp, Logan Marshall Sharp, and Autumn Rayne (Trenton) Denoncour; grandchildren: Asher and Hayden; 2 sisters: Alysa (Tyler) Botkin of Olney and Haley Sharp of Harrisburg; a brother: James Sharp of Harrisburg; father: Richard Sharp of Clay City; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was greeted in Heaven by his mother: Vicky Sharp, and his maternal grandparents: Walter and Freda Basinger.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora with Brandon Duvall officiating. Military funeral honors will be presented at the conclusion of the ceremony. A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to a love fund for the benefit of Bruce’s children, and these will be accepted through the funeral home. Please make checks payable to Jessica Dooley.
