Ray Jackson Jr., 77 of Fairfield

Ray Jackson Jr., 77 of Fairfield, passed away at 4:15 PM, Sunday, December 29, 2024, at Fairfield Memorial Hospital.  Born on May 10, 1947, in Fairfield to Ray and Eva (Thackrey) Jackson Sr., he had worked for Schlumberger offshore in the oilfield.  Ray was also a veteran of the US Airforce and served in Vietnam.

Ray is survived by brothers David (Treva) Jackson of Paxton, IL and Jimmy Joe Jackson of Paxton, IL, sisters Gayla (Jerry) Hunley of Barnhill and Mary (Harvey) Rangel of Rockwood, TN, and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Paula Tullis.

Ray will be cremated, and a memorial service will be held at 2 PM, Thursday, January 2, 2025, at Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairfield with military rites provided by Anthony Wayne Post #176 American Legion and the Wayne County Post #4535 VFW.  Visitation will be held from 1 PM until the time of service at the funeral home.  Memorials in his honor may be made to the local food pantry of the donor’s choice and will be accepted at the funeral home.
