State Representative Dave Severin (R-Benton) took the oath of office on Wednesday, January 8th, as lawmakers were sworn in during inaugural ceremonies commemorating the 104th General Assembly. Severin began his second term as 116th District State Rep. by thanking his family and constituents.

“Taking the oath of office is an honor, and serving as State Representative is a full-time job that I take very seriously,” Severin said. “I couldn’t do this without the support of my wife Penny and my family, and I am privileged to represent some of the hardest working, greatest people in the world in southern Illinois. We have a lot of work to do to turn this state around, and I look forward to the challenges ahead.”

Severin first took office in January 2017 as 117th District State Representative after defeating a longtime Democrat incumbent. Severin was remapped into a new district during the 2022 redistricting process. Severin has served the citizens of Edwards, Franklin, Hamilton, Jefferson, Marion, Wabash, Washington, Wayne, and White Counties.
