Charles “Charlie” Hudson, age 81, of Flora

Charles “Charlie” Hudson, age 81, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Sunday morning, January 12, 2025, at Clay County Hospital.

He was born March 20, 1943, in Daviess County, Kentucky, the son of Eugene and Vivian Edwina (Harrison) Hudson.

Charlie served in the U.S. Army, the Army National Guard, and the U.S. Navy. He earned his master’s degree in engineering from the University of Kentucky. Over the years he taught at multiple Universities and took on various other jobs. He was very handy and could fix almost anything. Charlie enjoyed panning for gold, hiking, and doing mechanical work. He was known for his sharp wit, dry sense of humor, and love of storytelling, which will always be fondly remembered.

He is survived by his daughters: Sheila Haney of Flora, Lauren Flippin, Shelley Schuler, and Robin Giles; grandchildren: Samantha (Ty) Tippets of Rocky Ford, Colorado and Isaiah Timothy of Kaysville, Utah; great-grandchildren: Aradia, Seradeth, and Ronan; and his special granddogs: Hadley and Bently.

He was preceded in death by his parents and ex-wife: Theresa Hudson.

There will be no services held at this time. Arrangements are by Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Burial will take place at a later date in East Hickory Hill Cemetery in Bluford.
