William “Willie” Michael Skropka, 71, of McLeansboro

William “Willie” Michael Skropka, 71, of McLeansboro, Il passed away on Monday, February 3, 2025 at his home.  Willie was born August 21, 1953 in Oklahoma City, OK to Henry & Rosalie (Wasik) Skropka, and was later raised by Henry & Gloria (Mayberry) Skropka.  Willie married Brenda (Wilson) Skropka, who survives.

Willie was employed as the Foreman at Baldwin Manufacturing in McLeansboro, IL and had previously worked at Hunt’s Hardware & Grocery in Dale, IL.  He was of the Catholic faith, and was a member of St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church in McLeansboro.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and being outdoors.  He enjoyed working with his hands in the garden and building things.  He had a great sense of humor, and enjoyed making people laugh.  He loved his family very much, and he will be greatly missed.

Willie is survived by his wife Brenda Skropka of McLeansboro, a daughter Cathy Gangard (and husband David) of Eldorado, IL; a son Robert Skropka (and wife Andrea) of Christopher, IL; 5 grandchildren: Robert Gangard (and fiancé Nicole Rector) of Eldorado, Lillian Gangard of Eldorado, Makayla Stratton of Christopher, Aidan Skropka of Christopher, and Trevin Skropka of Christopher; 3 sisters: Ganice Skropka of O’Fallon, IL; Jane Crowder of Harrisburg, IL and Paula Henderson (and husband Bryan) of Centralia, IL; a brother Vance Skropka of Dale, IL; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents Henry & Gloria (Mayberry) Skropka, his birth mother Rosalie (Wasik) Skropka, and a brother Darrell Skropka.

Funeral services for William “Willie” Michael Skropka will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 7, 2025 at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with Apostle Toby Hise officiating.  Visitation will be held on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. at Gholson Funeral Home.  He will be laid to rest following the funeral service at Prospect Cemetery near Dale, IL.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, and will be accepted at Gholson Funeral Home.
