During a recent meeting and luncheon of the Fairfield Rotary Club, Charles and Stacy West shared insights about their businesses and the ongoing renovations at Westport Plaza in Fairfield.
Charles, the owner of West Construction, has expanded his operations to include property management, specifically overseeing Westport Plaza. He emphasized his commitment to providing second chances, stating that he aims to help individuals who are struggling to find work due to past convictions.
Stacy West opened her store, Bling Things & More, in late January. Located within Westport Plaza, her boutique collaborates with over 50 local vendors and features 12 vendor rooms to support local commerce. The store offers a range of boutique-style clothing for both men and women. Additionally, Stacy has established a new community center behind her boutique, which she plans to rent out for events on Friday and Saturday nights, as well as Sunday afternoons.
Stacy also announced the upcoming opening of Barb Wire Grill, which is slated for a likely April 1st reopening after losing its previous location to a fire last year. Furthermore, Charles has recently acquired Austin Gibbs Excavation, which has seen a busy January due to significant snowfall in Wayne County.
Plans are also in place for the potential reopening of a laundromat at Westport Plaza in the coming months, as discussions are underway to bring this service back to the community. The Wests’ primary goal for Westport Plaza is to revitalize business in Fairfield and create job opportunities for local residents. They have been managing the plaza for two years, collaborating with property owners based in New Jersey. The program was organized by Rotarian Shari Winter.
