The Fairfield Grade School District Board of Education met this past Monday night.  Superintendent, Kristina Gardner provided updates on the district’s financial status and building needs. The district has received 66% of its expected revenue and spent 57% of its budget, with the food service balance currently at $267,728. However, an upcoming insurance payment of $86,957 is required due to increased claims.

In terms of building improvements, various needs were identified at Center Street, including enclosing the stairwell, preparing evacuation maps, installing a CO detector, ensuring a fire-rated band storage door, door closers, and inspecting roll-up doors. Additionally, a quote of $9,950 was shared for sanding and repainting the old gym at Center Street. North Side also requires a fire-rated door, door closer on the PASS door, closer on cafeteria doors, fire extinguishers, and roll-up door inspections.

Following a closed session, the board accepted the resignation of Jesse Thorton from his position as the 5th/6th grade boys basketball coach and employed Gracie Cantrell and Jodi Robinson as certified teachers for FY 26, with Cantrell assigned to Kindergarten and Robinson’s grade level placement has yet to be determined.
