By Mark Wells Feb 21, 2025 | 9:32 AM

Emma Lou (Ewing) Horn was absent from the body and present with her Lord Jesus Christ on February 19, 2025, at 4:20 p.m. surrounded by her family. She lived a life rooted in faith. Lou was a woman of unwavering belief, whose love for the Lord shone through every aspect of her life. She found joy in prayer, strength in scriptures, and peace in the promise of eternal life. She raised her sons and grandchildren in the ways of the Lord, teaching them to love, serve, and trust Him always. She was a loyal member of The Good News Pentecostal Church in Mt. Vernon, IL. Toward the end of her life she found comfort in verses such as Isaiah 40:31 “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint”. Also, 2 Timothy 4:7 “I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith”. She now rests in the arms of the Savior, free from pain and sorrow, rejoicing in the presence of the Almighty.

Emma was born October 4, 1939, to Robley and Mabel (Merritt) Ewing in Merriam, IL, the sister to nine brothers. She married Carroll Gene Horn on March 30, 1958, they were married 57 years before he took his heavenly flight. Together they had two sons, Bradley Gene and James Allen. Emma was always a hard worker from working in her younger years at Fairfield Memorial Hospital in the laundry department, working as a Home Interior consultant, to serving as a foster grandparent.

Proceeding her in death are her parents; husband; son, Bradley Horn; brothers Glen Ewing, Fred (Pat) Ewing, Jackie (Margaret) Ewing, Earl (Delta) Ewing, Gene (Phyllis) Ewing, Carol (Ladonna) Ewing, and infant brother Joe Bill Ewing; grandchildren Rachel Horn, Gabriel Horn, and James (Daniel) Horn. She is survived by her son James (Jimmy) Horn of Mt. Vernon, IL; daughters-in-law Katie Castleberry and Donna Horn; granddaughters Rebekah Bell of Flora, IL, and Sarah Duncan of Fairfield, IL; grandson Joshua Horn of Louisville, IL, along with nine great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandson and a great-great-granddaughter due in March.
