The judge overseeing the first-degree murder trial of Megan Valentine has approved a continuance until May 2nd without objection. Valentine, 44, is charged with the November 5, 2024, shooting death of her husband, Edwards County Circuit Judge Michael J. Valentine.
On Friday, Judge William Thurston of Pulaski County granted the defense’s motion to delay the case and scheduled a status hearing for 10 AM on May 2nd. The motion for continuance was filed by Valentine’s attorney, Jessica Koester of Edwardsville, and special prosecutor David Robinson did not object.
In the meantime, the prosecution has filed a request for the defense to disclose any evidence or discovery they may have. The case has not yet been added to the trial docket for Edwards County Circuit Court. Megan Valentine remains incarcerated at the White County Jail in Carmi as she awaits trial.
