GRAYVILLE CITY COUNCIL MEETING RECAP FROM MONDAY NIGHT, COUNTRY HOME PROCESSING OPENING A LOCATION IN GRAYVILLE

By Mark Wells Mar 12, 2025 | 11:55 AM

Grayville city leaders welcomed Country Home Processing to their industrial park, entering a lease agreement for the former Irvine’s Meat and Deli location at 133 North Industrial Avenue.  Additionally, the council approved the buyback of 135 Koehler Street from Sara Weber, restricting her from commercial development on the property.

Utility deposit rates were established at $100 for gas and water services, and $50 for sewer, effective for new applicants and applicable to current residents moving within Grayville. This decision sparked some debate, particularly for Councilman Scott Browning.

The council reviewed the proposed budget for Fiscal Year 2025/2026, which indicates revenues of $6,041,808.74 and expenses of $6,341,441.69, resulting in a loss of $299,632.95, but with capital expenses taken into account, an operating profit of $159,963.03 is projected.

A public hearing is scheduled for April 14 at 6:45 PM to discuss the budget before the regular meeting at 7 PM. Former councilman David Jordan raised concerns about the city’s brush dump and the accessibility of information for residents with vision issues. The council committed to addressing these concerns and improving agenda accessibility online.
