The National Weather Service in Paducah has issued a WIND ADVISORY in effect for Southern Illinois from 1pm today (Friday) until 4am Saturday. South winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts 45 to 50 mph expected. Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. The strong winds may combine with loose soils and result in reduced visibilities at times. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.
Widespread thunderstorms are expected this evening and overnight. Severe thunderstorms are likely with damaging winds in excess of 70 mph, large hail and tornadoes all possible.
