The field has been set for the 2025 NCAA men’s basketball tournament. Auburn is the number one overall seed and tops the South region. Duke is the top seed in the East region, Houston tops the Midwest region, and Florida is the number one seed in the West region. The SEC has set a new record with 14 teams being invited to the big dance. Kansas has also set a record by making it to the tournament for a 35th straight season.
The Illinois Fighting Illini are going dancing. The Illini earned a six-seed in the NCAA Tournament yesterday following a loss to Maryland in the Big Ten Tournament on Friday. Illinois will take on either Xavier or Texas in the First Round at 8:45PM on Friday.
The field for the Women’s NCAA Tournament is set. UCLA is the top overall seed for the first time in school history. Defending champion South Carolina, USC and Texas earned the other number one seeds. The two-seeds are UConn, Duke, TCU and NC State. Wayne City Alumni, LeAnn Freeland Curry, the Head Coach at NSU (Nova Southeastern University) in Ft. Lauderdale, FL has her team, the Sharks in the Sweet 16.

Sonny Gray will be the Opening Day starting pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals later this month. The team announced the move yesterday. Gray is entering his second season with St. Louis. He went 13-and-9 with a 3.84 ERA in 28 starts last season.
The Chicago Cubs took down the Yomiuri Giants 4-2 in an exhibition game at the Tokyo Dome. Travis Shaw drove in a pair of runs, while Jameson Taillon earned the win after giving up just one run on four hits in four-and-a-third innings. The Cubs begin the regular season with a game against the Dodgers in Japan tomorrow.
The Chicago White Sox are parting ways with a former All-Star. The team cut outfielder Joey Gallo from the team yesterday. Gallo struck out 11 times in 20 at-bats this Spring. In other team news, the Southsiders beat Texas 7-6 in Spring Training action yesterday.
