A homicide investigation is currently underway in Mount Vernon with three suspects in custody.
The situation began unfolding on Monday when officers, firefighters, and ambulance crews were dispatched to the 600 block of South 15th Street at approximately 5:53 a.m. following reports of a deceased male. According to the Mount Vernon Police Department Facebook page, evidence suggests that the male was murdered, prompting the initiation of a homicide investigation. Details regarding the cause of death remain unclear, and the victim’s identity has not yet been released.
In the course of the investigation, police initially took two individuals into custody. Detectives later identified a third suspect, leading to a search warrant being executed at around 8:15 p.m. on the 500 block of South 17th Street. The third suspect was taken into custody without incident.
The identities of all suspects involved have not been disclosed. Authorities continue to investigate the case.
