FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT, UPDATED AREA RIVER STAGES AS OF 12 NOON TODAY (MONDAY)

Several inches of rain fell over the weekend and according to the National Weather Service in Paducah, a FLOOD WARNING remains in effect for the Skillet Fork River at Wayne City affecting Wayne and White Counties and the Little Wabash River at Carmi affecting Wayne, White and Gallatin Counties. Some areas have seen 10 inches of rain, more in other areas as the Skillet Fork and Little Wabash Rivers are above flood stage.  The Skillet Fork has crested and the Little Wabash at Carmi will crest later this week.

 

For both the Skillet Fork River…including Wayne City and the Little Wabash River including Carmi, major flooding is forecasted. The FLOOD WARNING remain in effect until further notice.  As of noon today,  the Skillet Fork at Wayne City is at 22.48 ft, flood stage is at 18 ft; the Little Wabash River at Main St. in Carmi is at 33.11 ft, flood stage is at 27 ft.  At 35.5 ft, businesses just downstream of IL Route 14  and Route 1 in Carmi will flood.  The river is expected to rise to a crest of 36.1 ft Friday morning. the Little Wabash East of Fairfield is at 29.68 ft, flood stage is at 17 ft.; Wabash River at Mt. Carmel is at 24.13 ft, flood stage is at 19 ft.; Bonpas Creek at Browns is at 24.07 ft.; Little Wabash River below Clay City is at 24.73 ft, flood stage is at 18 ft,; Ohio River at Shawneetown IL-KY Border is at 40.15 ft, flood stage is at 33 ft.
