Two members of the Fairfield Police Department win their boxing match during the annual Guns & Hoses Charity Boxing Event held at the Ford Center in downtown Evansville Saturday night. In front of a packed crowd at the Ford Center with many from the Fairfield area in attendance, Officer Dane Horton scored a first round TKO over Zak Hermann of the Evansville Fire Department. Horton says he will continue to participate in future Guns & Hoses event for years to come. Officer Daniel Hopper, who also serves as the School Resource Officer at both Center St. and Northside Grade Schools  squared off against Luke Morrow from the Evansville Fire Department with Hopper winning by decision. This was Hoppers final year fighting in Guns & Hoses as he has participated in this charity event for the past 10 years. In commemoration of his years, Hopper received a black belt indicating 10 years of dedication to the Guns & Hoses event. In its 18th year in Evansville, The Guns & Hoses event, organized by 911 Gives Hope is a charity boxing match between local police officers and firefighters. The event’s purpose is to raise money for local charities, particularly those benefiting children and individuals with disabilities as well as raising awareness for Prader-Willi Syndrome, a rare genetic disorder that happens because of the interruption of specific genes and how they work in affecting the body’s growth and development.
