Fairfield resident, 38-year-old Joshua Rockett made his first initial appearance in Wayne County Circuit Court Wednesday afternoon. Rockett was arrested by Fairfield Police Monday night on charges of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse (class 1 felony) to a child under 18 while under his trust, Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse of a person under 18 with the assaulter being over 5 years older than the victim (class 2 felony) and Criminal Sexual Abuse/Unable to Consent (class 4 felony). Rockett along with his Attorney, TJ Parish, and Wayne County State’s Attorney, Kyle Ellis representing the state appeared before Judge, Matt Vaughn. Attorney Parrish requested to continue the detention hearing and 1st advisement with no objection from State’s Attorney, Kyle Ellis. Judge Vaughn granted the motion to continue with Rockett scheduled to appear in Wayne County Circuit Court next Tuesday at 1pm. Joshua Rockett is currently being held in the White County Jail in Carmi without bond.
