EDWARDS COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD SET TO MEET THURSDAY

The Edwards County Community Unit School District No. 1 has announced its upcoming regular Board of Education meeting, scheduled for Thursday, April 24th at 7:00 p.m. The gathering will take place in the K-12 Band Room and will focus on a range of important district matters, including elections, policy updates, and new business initiatives.

 

Some items on the agenda  will include the swearing-in of newly elected board members, election of officers for the next two years, and the appointment of key district officials such as the treasurer and WOVSED representative. The meeting agenda also features approval of a consent agenda, which includes meeting schedules, existing policies, financial reports, and routine administrative approvals.

 

Community members are encouraged to participate during the public participation segment. The board will discuss ongoing projects, including vocational and solar energy initiatives, and consider the adoption of new social science textbooks. Additional agenda items include approvals related to district plans, transportation bids, field trips, athletic camps, and donations exceeding $500.

 

Superintendent David Cowger will present the district’s latest updates, covering graduation ceremonies, cafeteria sales, summer school plans, and personnel considerations. The meeting will also address staff resignations, employment considerations, and volunteer recognitions.

Following a closed session to discuss personnel and contractual matters, the board will reconvene for motions and open discussion before concluding the meeting.
