Johnie Lee Stroud, 90, of North Aurora, Illinois, formerly of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away Friday, April 18, 2025 at Rush Copley Hospital of Aurora. He was born October 17, 1934 in Wayne County, Illinois to the late William Jesse and Josephine Agnes (Laird) Stroud.
Johnie is survived by his son, Terry Lee Stroud and wife, Lily of Yorkville, Illinois; daughter, Kathy Eisenreich and husband, Rob of North Aurora, Illinois; grandchildren, Nicole Ann Gillham and husband, Jeff of Sugar Grove Illinois, Timothy Wayne Allen and wife, Shayla of Sycamore, Illinois, and Bailey Jean Stroud of Alton, Illinois; great-grandchildren, Joseph Edwards, Charlotte Gillham, Paisley Allen, and Kenzie Allen; sister, Barbara “Mable” Davis and husband, Larry; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Johnie was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Dawn Stroud; sisters, Mary Ruth Murphy and brother-in-law Ralph Murphy; Roberta Scherer and brother-in-law Jake Scherer; and special friend of 40 years, Lou Ann Jenkins.
Johnie proudly served his country in the United States Army and served as an MP Guard for two years. He worked at AirTex for 30 years as a machinist. He loved hunting, camping, fishing, watching St. Louis Cardinals baseball and spending time with his family and friends.
A Visitation will be held Friday, April 25, 2025 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. A Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 am. A Flag Presentation will be conducted by the American Legion Post #141. Interment will follow at Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City, Illinois. Memorials may be made in Johnie’s honor to the American Heart Association.
