A Sandoval man, 54-year-old Scott T. Danaha is in custody following a police pursuit that ended in Waltonville.   Shortly after midnight, officers of the Christopher Police Department responded to assist the Sesser Police Department in a vehicle pursuit that began within the City of Sesser. The suspect vehicle fled northbound on Illinois Route 148 at a high rate of speed.

As the pursuit continued into the Village of Waltonville, the suspect turned off Route 148 onto Hirons Street, then made a sudden U-turn and intentionally drove toward a Christopher Police Department squad vehicle, striking it head-on. The collision caused significant damage to both vehicles.

Officers deployed tasers to take Danaha into custody. Danaha was transported to a local hospital for evaluation and was later released to the custody of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.

The Christopher officer involved was also treated at a local hospital and fortunately released with no major injuries.

Danaha faces multiple felony charges, including:

  • Reckless Driving
  • Aggravated Battery to a Peace Officer (Resulting in Great Bodily Harm)

Danaha is being held at the Franklin County Jail in Benton pending a court appearance in Franklin County Circuit Court.
