DRUG SWEEP IN WAYNE COUNTY OVERNIGHT LEADS TO THE ARRESTS OF NUMEROUS INDIVIDUALS

In a coordinated effort to uphold probation conditions and combat illegal drug activity, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department, along with Wayne County Probation and the Fairfield Police Department, conducted a series of probation compliance checks late last (Thursday) night into the early hours of this (Friday) morning.

 

During the operation, authorities visited numerous residences across Wayne County, resulting in multiple arrests of individuals suspected of violating drug laws. The Sheriff’s Department reports that several individuals were detained on charges related to possession of controlled substances, primarily methamphetamine and crack cocaine.

 

Among those taken into custody are Amanda M. Scott, 38, of Geff, Illinois; Michael P. Wetzel Jr., 35, of Zeigler; Bryan A. Bailey Jr., 20, and Brittany M. Bush, 36, both of Fairfield; Bobby W. Cottrill, 47, and Kelli J. Cottrill, 42, also of Fairfield. All five individuals are currently be held in the Wayne County Jail on charges of possession of methamphetamine.

 

One individual, Troy M. McGaha, 57, of Fairfield, was given a notice to appear due to health-related issues. He faces charges of possession of crack cocaine and methamphetamine.

 

Officials emphasized that the operation underscores their ongoing commitment to enforcing drug laws and ensuring probation compliance in Wayne County.
