11TH ANNUAL CLAY CITY AREA-WIDE CALL TO PRAY, THURSDAY, MAY 1ST

By Mark Wells Apr 28, 2025 | 11:55 AM

Churches within the Clay City School District will come together to lead prayer and music during the 74th Annual National Day of Prayer on Thursday, May 1st at 7:00 p.m. The event will be hosted by the Clay City First Baptist Church, located off Main Street.

The National Day of Prayer is a significant tradition rooted in America’s heritage, remaining as relevant today as it was when first called by the Continental Congress in 1775. Established by public law through a joint resolution of Congress, it was signed into law by President Truman in 1952, then later amended during the 100th Congress under President Reagan in 1988. The law states: “The President shall issue each year a proclamation designating the first Thursday in May as a National Day of Prayer on which the people of the United States may turn to God in prayer and meditation at churches, in groups, and as individuals.”
