In-Person Registration for Hamilton County Schools Set for Today

In person registration in the Hamilton County Schools will take place from 8:30 this morning until 3 PM this afternoon at all 4 schools in the county. Online registration has been available since July 17th, but the in-person registration is available today. All registration will take place online.

With the registration, officials in Hamilton County remind those with students enrolling that registration fees must be payed at the time of enrollment.

Parents are reminded that registration fees are due prior to the enrollment of their child in school, which also
includes any fees still owed from the last school year.
• The Registration Fee for Kindergarten through 12th Grades is $30.00.
• Students in Grades 5
th through 12th will pay an additional $3.00 fee for a student handbook.
• Students in Grades K through 12th will pay an additional $20.00 technology charge.
• Students in Grades 7th and 8th will pay an additional $15.00 physical education fee.
• Students in grades 1
st through 4
th will be charged a $20.00 athletic participation fee. This fee will be nonrefundable after the season starts.
• Students in grades 5th through 6th will be charged $30.00 athletic participation fee. This fee will be nonrefundable after the season starts.
• Optional school insurance – various plans and rates.

At the Junior/Senior High School, the following fees for elective classes are due the day of
registration (these are in addition to the $33.00 registration fee):
Junior High
There is a $10.00 fee for Intro to STEM and Intro to Art. A $20.00 fee for Ag Careers Development, Intro to Ag
Construction, Art I, and Discovering STEM.
High School
• There is a $10.00 fee for *Ag Business, *Work Ethics, *Calculus, and *Speech. A $15.00 fee for Art, Theatre
Arts, Mixed Media, Drawing. A $20.00 fee for *Accounting 1, *Accounting 2, *Desktop Publishing I,
Advanced Biology, Advanced Chemistry, BSAA, *Algebra III, *Lit. and Comp. IV C.P., and *Pre-Calculus. A
$25.00 fee for Ag Mechanics, Construction 1, Construction 2 and Anatomy. A $35 fee for Foods & Nutrition.
A $50 fee for Psychology. A $100.00 fee for Driver Education.
• Senior High Yearbooks may be ordered at registration at an Early Bird cost of $45.00 or $52.00 with a name
stamp. Cash or check will be accepted. Checks should be made out to Pyramid Staff. You may reserve a copy at
the Early Bird price for $10.00 and make payments. (Base price increases to $50 in October)
• $6.00 fee for lock (optional at Senior High, but locks are required on P. E. lockers at the Jr. High).
• Students should be prepared to make a payment on their lunch account for school meals while registering.
• An athletic participation fee of $55.00 will be charged to 7th through 12th Grade students. A $20.00 athletic
participation fee will be charged to 1st–4
th grade students and a $30.00 athletic participation fee will be charged
to 5th–6
th grade students. This fee will be non-refundable after the season starts.

Waiver of Fees – You may be eligible for a waiver of student fees if your gross income is under that set out in the federal
guidelines for free meals, or if you are otherwise able to establish that you cannot afford to pay these fees. If you think you may
qualify for a fee waiver or free meals, please bring proof of income with you to registration (check stub, public assistance
documentation, etc.) Note: Rend Lake College Dual Credit classes & Driver’s Education do not qualify for a fee waiver.

Breakfast and lunch fees are as follows: Breakfast is $2 for K-6 students and $2.25 for 7th-12th grade students. Lunch is $3 for K-6 students while it is $3.25 for 7th thru 12th Grade Students.

Parents are reminded to bring the required health records when they register their children for school. Students entering kindergarten, 6th, and 9th grades are required to have a physical examination (including the parents signed health history section), and up-to-date immunization records (including completion of Hepatitis B series, a TdaP booster in 6th grade, and 2 doses of Varicella vaccine in 6th and 9th Grades). Also, students entering 6th Grade are now required to show proof of receiving 1 dose on or after 11th birthday of Meningococcal Conjugate. Students entering 12th grade are now required to show proof of receiving 2 doses of Meningococcal Conjugate vaccine. First dose on or after 11th birthday and 2nd dose on or after 16th birthday. If 1st dose is administered when student is 16 or older, only 1 dose is required. All the above requirements are to be completed by October 15. Dental exams are required during kindergarten, 2nd, 6th, and 9th grades (to be completed sometime during the school year). An eye exam is also required before starting kindergarten. Exam forms are available from the office of any school.

Students in grades 4, 5, 7, 8, 10, 11, and 12 trying out for sports/cheerleading activities, are required to have a sports physical examination (current within the last 395 days of the duration of the sport, not the starting date). Documentation must state that the student is able to participate in certain or all activities. The sixth grade and ninth grade school physicals will complete the sports requirement for those grades, so no additional sports physical is required. Thursday, August 10th will be the first day of school for students in Hamilton County. For those in preschool, the first day will be August 21st.
