Tonight is a big night when it comes to Football as the IHSA will announce playoff seeding. Fairfield picked up their 5th win of the season as they knocked off Edwards County 52-7 on Thursday. The Mules are awaiting to see if they make it in.
Taking a look at action from the Black Diamond from Friday, Eldorado knocked off CZR 44-24. In a battle of 7-1 teams, Johnston City steamrolled Carmi-White County 36-6. JC is now 8-1 with Carmi-White County being 7-2. Sesser-Vailer/Waltonville defeated Flora 46-6 to outright claim the Black Diamond Conference Championship with a 9-0 record.
In other action from around the area, Mount Carmel downed Lawrenceville 49-20. Robinson snuck past Richland County 36-35. Charleston knocks off Salem 26-15. Effingham knocks off Centralia 61-34. Mount Vernon downs Alton 49-14. West Frankfort knocked off Hamilton County 30-24 in overtime.
In our area, Fairfield, Johnston City, Sesser-Vailer/Waltonville, Carmi-White County, Mount Carmel, Lawrenceville, and Mount Vernon have qualified for the playoffs. Red Hill will qualify if they win their 11 AM matchup today against Carlyle at home.
