The Flora City Council is set to meet this evening at Flora City Hall. Under routine business, the board will look at a couple of ordinance amendments. One amendment involves the employee handbook while the other involves a collective bargaining agreement with IBEW. The city will look to approve a project authorization with Milano and Grunloh Engineers. The city will look at placing a 4-way stop at the intersection of Briscoe Drive and Commerce Drive as well as a No Parking area on East 3rd Street from Stanford Road to Oak Street. The council will look to approve a real-estate sale at 549 West 5th Street as well as establish a portion of Briscoe Drive as a Class 2 Truck Route. The council will look to approve the construction of a pickleball court with Johannes Construction for $541,351.50. Finally, the council will look to approve a variance for Joshua and Rachael Heifner for a property at 28 Stone Forge Pike. The Flora City Council meets at 4:30 this afternoon.
The Edwards County School Board meets at 7 this evening at the K-12 Band Room in Albion. Following the consent agenda and public comments section, the board under New Business will look at potentially taking action on phase 1 of the vocational renovation project. The board will also look into adding a sexual abuse curriculum with CAISA while will be on hand at the meeting for a presentation this evening. The board will look at projects involving water softener, the refinishing of the high school gymnasium floor, gym lobby upgrades, and other gymnasium upgrades. The board will look at approving a cheer camp as well as a pair of field trips for Albion Grade School Students. One student trip would be for the 7th Grade to Springfield on May 13th and the other for the band and choir students to Holiday World on May 16th. The board will have a first reading on curriculum changes in the high school and look into a first reading involving textbook purchases. The board will look to move softball to the IESA Athletic Association from the SIJHSAA. Finally, the board will look to make an update to the crisis plan involving rapid entry.
